What to do if a Bosch washer gives an error F19? This means that there is a problem with heating the water.
Modern automatic washing machines are equipped with an excellent self-diagnosis system, which instantly detects a failure when it occurs. It informs the user about the breakdown by displaying the trouble codes on the display.
We will examine in detail what the code F 19 means and how to eliminate the breakdown that caused it.
Decoding and signs of error F19
The Bosch electronic washing machine shows an error on the display, showing the alphanumeric code F19.
The electromechanical washer Bosch reacts to a failure easier: three bulbs are lit in it at the same time. 2 combinations are possible:
- Speed indicators 1000 and 600 + "Rinse".
- Speed indicators 800 and 400 + "Rinse".
Code 19 - water heating error. Perhaps the machine reports a break in the heating system.
Important! This is a critical error. Perhaps a short circuit and fire SMA. Experts do not recommend the operation of the Bosch washing machine if F19 is highlighted.
Symptoms of failure are the same for all models of Bosch cars:
- The sunroof is not blocked.
- Wash does not start.
- The control panel does not respond to button presses and program selections.
Testing cars with F19
Using simple steps, you can determine what caused the malfunction of the heating system:
- Low voltage in the mains. Especially relevant for homes in the private sectors.
- Programmer Failure. Reboot the machine by unplugging it from the network and leaving it for 15-20 minutes. If, after switching on, the error disappeared, perhaps the control board simply “buggy”.
- Scale on the heater (TENE). The scale does not allow the heat generated by the heating element, so it burns out.
Error F19: repair and replacement of parts
Wizards at service centers are well aware of what F19 error code means. They willingly share their knowledge and practice to tell you how to remedy the situation.
In this case, the repair will help:
- Replacing the heater.
- Replacing the temperature sensor.
- Repair control board.
For your information! You can try to get rid of scale on the heater. In rare cases, this helps.
TEN: check and replacement
Unlike other SMA brands, in Bosch washers, access to the heater is in front and not behind, so you have to disassemble the washing machine to check and replace the heater.
Dismantling a washing machine using the example of Bosch Maxx 5:
- Disconnect the CM from the power supply.
- Take a screwdriver and unscrew the 2 fasteners that hold the top cover of the machine. Slide the cover back and remove it.
- Take out the powder compartment. In the depth of the cuvette there is a button, by clicking on which, you can easily remove it.
- Having removed the cuvette, you will see holes in which there are fasteners - they need to be unscrewed. You will find another screw on the right side of the machine, on the side.
- Remove the panel by pulling it toward you.
- Open the door of the technical access door at the bottom of the machine, remove the filter, drain the waste water (at the same time clean the filter - it will never be superfluous).
- In the hatch you will find other fasteners that need to be unscrewed.
- Next, remove the front panel. To prevent the cuff of the hatch from interfering, remove the clamp holding it with a screwdriver and push the cuff into the drum.
- Having removed everything that interfered with you, you will see the heater - it is located directly under the drum.
Heater check
Prepare the heater - remove all wires from it and release the terminals. You can check it directly in the machine or get it by unscrewing the central nut.
- Take a tester (multimeter) and put it into a resistance measurement mode of 200 Ohms.
- Attach the probes to the terminals.
- A working heater will show resistance in the region of 24 ohms.
- If 0 appears on the tester display, then the heater is closed.
- The value 1 or ∞ is an open inside the heating element.
It also does not hurt to check the breakdown of the heater in the housing (if the first test showed that the heater was in good condition):
- Set the selector ring on the tester to buzzer mode.
- Lean one probe against the heater terminal, and close the other on the housing.
- If the buzzer does not beep, then the heater does not pierce the case.
- If the tester squeaks, then the heater punches on the case, and it needs to be changed.
Heater Replacement
The most important thing that you will need to replace the heater is a new original part that fits your Bosch SM model. The solution to the problem, given the trends of the modern market, is simple - buy such a heater in a store or order on the Internet. The main thing is that the heater is certified, and not Chinese-made.
Important! Buy a new heater with a rubber seal that holds the heater in the groove.
Before replacing the heater, clean the place in which it was installed: most likely, scum accumulated there.
Install the element, connect the temperature sensor, wire the wiring and assemble the Bosch machine, operating in the reverse order.
Checking and replacing the temperature sensor
If the heater is OK, check and replace the temperature sensor. About checking and replacing the thermistor, we wrote in detail in the article about the error F38.
Control Board Repair
Sometimes, in order to remove the error, you need to check the control module - it may contain oxidized contacts and burned out elements.
If F19 is on, it is worth checking the board and, if necessary, reprogram it or even replace it.
Masters not for selfish purposes do not recommend repairing electronics on their own. Often, ordinary users only worsen the state of the SMA by independent intervention, because flashing and replacing the controller requires the appropriate tool, knowledge and experience.
Now you know how to rectify the situation and carry out a fault reset if an interruption occurs in the heating system of the Bosch washer.
