The Zanussi washing machine informs the owner of breakdowns by displaying fault codes on a digital display. If your SMA has a display, you are in luck: you will be informed immediately of the slightest malfunction with the appropriate code.
If you have an automatic machine without a scoreboard, then you can also determine the breakdown by determining what this or that combination of luminous indicators means.
We will examine in detail what each SM Zanussi code means, what are the reasons for its appearance, and offer effective solutions to the problem.
Damage to the Zanussi filling system: codes and causes
Code | Explanation | Cause |
E11 (or E10) | If the machine gives an error E11, then the water is too slowly poured into the tank or does not go there at all. |
|
E13 | If E13 is displayed, then water has flowed into the SMA pan. | How to fix it: disassembling the housing, searching for leaks and sealing joints is required. |
E21 (some models give out E20) | Water does not drain. | If the Zanussi washing machine shows error E21, then:
|
E22 | During drying, condensate drainage was impaired.
E23 | If E23 is highlighted, then the triac tripping over the drainage pump (pump) has burned out. | The cause of the breakdown is a malfunction of the pump, it needs to be replaced. It is also worth replacing the triac if it is his fault. |
E24 | Is the E24 code on? Most likely, the track of the control triac of the drainage pump burned out. | Repair of the indicated section of the board is required. |
EC1 | Water intake valve blocked. | You can correct the situation and eliminate the EC1 error by cleaning the valve strainer. |
Ef1 | Exceeded time for draining water. | The EF1 code is displayed if a blockage is detected in the drainage hose or filter that interferes with the discharge of water. |
Failures of the electric motor - table of errors and breakdowns of the Zanussi machine
Code | Explanation | Cause |
E51 | E51 denotes a violation of the contact between the engine and its control triac. | Contact circuit maintenance required. |
E52 | The engine tachometer does not signal to the control unit. | Typically, the E52 code appears due to the fact that the washer flies fixing the tachometer flies. |
E53 | If E53 is lit on the board, it means that the circuit that is controlled by the motor triac was broken on the control unit.
E54 | The relay contacts “responsible” for the reverse of the motor “stuck”.
E55 | The electrical circuit of the engine is broken.
E56 | Tahoe sensor signal timeout. | The sensor may be broken or the module malfunctioning. |
E57 | A current of more than 15A was detected in the system. | Most likely, the engine broke down or the main board failed. |
E58 | The phase current of the motor is more than 4.5A.
E59 | The tacho sensor does not transmit a signal for more than 3 seconds. | The integrity of the wiring connecting the motor to the inverter is broken. The inverter board could also break. |
EA3 | An EA3 error occurs if the DSP system cannot lock the motor pulley. | The cause of the breakdown may be:
|
Water heating failure: basic failure codes
Code | Explanation | Cause |
E61 | For the allotted time, the water was not heated to the desired temperature mark.
| To remove the error E61, eliminate the cause of the failure - heater failure. To do this, check the resistance of the tester. A working heater in the Zanussi washing machine will show 30 ohms. |
E62 | The meaning of error E62 is water overheating. In 5 minutes, the water temperature jumps to 90 degrees. | The cause of the breakdown may be a breakdown of the heater in the housing. In this case, when measuring the resistance of the heater, the serviceable element will show from 5.7 to 6.3 Ohms. |
E66, E3A | With codes E66 and E3A, the heater relay may fail. | Possible damage to the heater, contacts, control board. |
E68 | The machine shows the code E68 on the display when the ground is triggered in the circuit of the heating element.
E69 | With E69, you can diagnose a complete breakdown of the heater. |
Sensor failures in the Zanussi machine, error codes
Code | Explanation | Cause |
E31 | Damage to the water pressure switch. How to eliminate:
| |
E32 | The frequency oscillation of the level sensor is detected. | Typically, the E32 code causes these reasons:
|
E33 | With code E33, there is no synchronization of the sensor responsible for the amount of water. Also, the error concerns the sensor, which does not allow the heater to turn on without water. | What to do to fix the problem? Localize the causes of failure:
|
E34 | The washing machine gives error E34 within 1 minute. | The reason is the disagreement in the work of two sensors at once: anti-boiling and water level sensor. |
E35 | At E35, an excess of the permissible water level is recorded in the tank. | The cause of the error may be in the pressure switch. |
E36 | Damage to the sensor protecting the heater - ABS.
E37 | Damage to the L1S sensor.
E38 | The pressure difference is not recorded. | With error E38, a blockage formed in the tube connecting the tank and the level sensor. |
E39 | Overflow of water. | Broken HV1S sensor. This sensor protects the tank from overflow. |
E44 | With errors E44, E71 and E74, EC2, the machine may not give additional signals - it displays only error codes. | Broken sensor, responsible for the fact that the hatch door is tightly closed. |
E71 | The temperature sensor failed: its resistance goes beyond the limits of acceptable indicators.
E74 | The temperature sensor has shifted.
EC2 (the code is typical for the latest models of Zanussi cars). | The turbidity sensor is broken.
E90 | Management Board Issues | It is necessary to inspect the control board (carry out diagnostics), repair or replace. Note! Often the E90 code lights up after the transport of the AGR. Inspect the electronic module; water or detergent may have spilled onto it. Gently wipe the board, and run the equipment in test mode. |
Ef4 | The flow sensor does not give a signal. | Perhaps there is simply not enough pressure in the water supply. |
Other error codes
Code | Explanation |
E40 | The hatch is open or the lock is broken.
|
E41 | The drum door is leaking. |
E42 | At E42, the door lock does not work, the interlock must be replaced. |
E43 | Code E43 means a failure of the triac UBL. |
E45 | A part of the circuit of the triac UBL is broken. |
E5C | The E5C code means high voltage - more than 430 V. Most likely, the replacement of the electronic unit will be required. |
E5D | Communication between inverter and electronic unit is broken. The E5D code indicates a breakdown of these parts or a violation of the integrity of the wiring. |
E5E, E98 | Codes E5E or E98 may indicate a communication failure between the control unit and the inverter. |
E5F | With an E5F error, the engine does not start. May indicate an error on the inverter board. |
E82 | Selector operation is broken during program selection. |
E83 |
Indicates breaker selector. |
E84 | E84 indicates a malfunction in the recognition of the recirculation pump. |
E85 | Breakdown of the recirculation pump. The thyristor could also fail. |
E91, E92 | Codes E91 and E92 appear on the display when the electronic display board and control unit malfunction. |
E93 | Software crash. You can eliminate E93 only by entering the correct software code. |
E94 | The operating modes of the AGR are incorrectly configured. |
E95 | E95 speaks of communication failures between such elements: a microprocessor and RAM. |
E96 | E96 says that the CM control unit is not suitable for those devices that were connected to it. |
E97 | The E97 code accompanies such a failure: the position of the selector wheel does not correspond to the mode selected by the system. |
E9A | Sound system crashes. |
EA1, EA2, EA4, EA5 | EA codes - 1, 2, 4, and 5 - indicate a failure in the DSP system. |
EA6 | The drum rotation signal is not given for the allotted 30 seconds. |
EB1, EH1 | Codes ЕВ1 and ЕН1 in different models can mean the same thing - excess frequency in the network. |
EB2, EH2 | And the codes EB2 and EN2 indicate the excess of the maximum allowable voltage. |
EB3, EH3 | Codes ЕВ3 and ЕН3, on the contrary, indicate a too low voltage level. |
EBE, EBF, EHE, EH | Malfunction of the relay in the protective circuit. |
Ef2 | The EF2 code is a fixation of the excess of the permissible volume of foam, and can also mean a blockage in the drainage system. |
Ef3 | EF3 signals the protection is triggered - Aquastop, which means there is a water leak inside the machine’s body. |
Ef5 | Spin failed. The drum balance was upset. |
SMA "Zanussi" without display - with a rotary knob
Custom Zanussi CM control panels equipped with EWM2000 controllers can also be without display - only with LEDs.
To determine the malfunction, you need to enter the service mode. Follow the scheme:
- Set the program knob to the “OFF” position.
- Hold the start button and any other button at the same time, as shown in the picture above. While holding the buttons, start the washer from the start button.
- Hold the keys until the lights start flashing.
A blinking lamp indicates that the equipment has entered service mode. Then in the zero position of the program selector, check the operation of the interface. When you press the button, the corresponding lamp will light up.
In this mode, you can check the performance of individual components of the appliance. To carry out the test, turn the knob in the clockwise direction, step by step checking the modes:
- Step 1. Supply water to the main wash compartment.
- Step 2. Supply water to the prewash compartment.
- Step 3. Supply water to the air conditioning compartment.
- Step 4. Water supply to the compartment under the bleaching agent.
- Step 5. Heating and recirculation (if provided).
- Step 6. Test for tightness (at this moment the drum will start with water at high speeds).
- Step 7. Drain and spin test. There is also a check of the consistency of the signals of the level sensors.
- Step 8. Testing the drying (for models with drying).
At each step, the door blocker is also checked, and at the time of water intake, the time allocated to filling the tank to the overflow level is checked, the functionality of the level sensors is monitored.
It is in service mode that you can view the latest technology errors and reset them.
To reset errors, proceed as follows:
- Turn the mode dial counterclockwise 2 steps from the disconnected position.
- On the panel without a display, the indicators in binary code will blink (for example, 3 and 4 groups marked in the picture).
- Translate the binary code into a letter or number, according to the table (a filled circle indicates a lit indicator).
The 4 lowest bulbs indicate units (4 group of indicators), and the four upper bulbs indicate dozens (3 group). To reset the DTC, hold down the start button and 6 button while passing the diagnostic.
Now you know how to remedy the situation if your Zanussi washing machine issued a trouble code. Often, resetting errors does not require much effort, and our recommendations will certainly help you.
