How to check the dishwasher? Often the diagnosis is performed by the system itself, due to which a fault code is displayed. Having deciphered a mistake, it is important to react to it correctly.
We will tell you what to do if the equipment suddenly stops. How to quickly find out the cause and fix the problem.
How is a system check performed?
In the instruction manual you can find the meaning of the error codes for your dishwasher model. A verification algorithm is built into the software module. As soon as a technical failure occurs, the module identifies the problem and displays the icons on the screen. So the machine tells you where to look for the problem.
In PMM without a display, an error is manifested by flashing indicators on the panel.
In Bosch, Electrolux machines, this system is well developed. Consider the most popular codes, their meaning and troubleshooting methods.
Dishwasher malfunctions, solutions
The self-diagnosis system is constantly being improved by the manufacturer. So, the Bosch technique has up to 200 different characters, but these codes remain the most relevant:
- E1 - no water heating.
- E2 - incorrect pressostat data.
- E5 - overflow of water in the system.
- E6 - the Aquastop system is out of order.
- E9 - heating heater is faulty.
- E15 - clogged system, triggered leakage protection.
- E17 - no water intake.
- E21, E24 - the drain pump does not work.
- E27 - the voltage in the network is not enough for the normal operation of the equipment.
Dishwashers "Electrolux" without display and with a screen most often give the following errors:
- The END lamp flashes once. The scoreboard is issued i10. Water is not poured into the hopper.
- END - 2 times, code i20 - no drain in the system; blockage.
- END - 3 times, symbol i30 - Aquastop worked.
- END - 6 times, i60 error - no water heating.
How to cope with a breakdown? We will analyze in more detail what needs to be done when a particular error appears.
DIY repair
Represent typical problems and solutions.
A heating element
If you see E1, i60 icons on the display, there was a malfunction in the operation of the heater or its electrics. Look, maybe you chose a cold cycle without heating. If in other programs the washing takes place in cold water, then the heater, wiring and temperature sensor are checked.
- Flow TEN is integrated in the design of the circulation pump.
- Disconnect the machine from the network and communications.
- Flip to the back panel and open access to the bottom.
- Inspect the heater and wires at the time of burning.
- For diagnostics of electronics connect probes of a multimeter to contacts.
- The element is operational with a resistance of 1500 ohms.
- Inspect the temperature sensor.
- In the event of a malfunction, the parts are replaced.
- To do this, disconnect the wires, unscrew the screws.
- Install a new part.
Level sensor
The error code indicates E2, i30. The reason may be not only the failure of the pressure switch, but also the violation of its contacts. As a result, the board does not receive a signal about the water level in the tank. The mechanical operation of the pressure switch can be checked by blowing into its tube. If you hear clicks, the device is in order.
The electronic component of the pressure switch is also measured with a multimeter.
Hard water can cause a sensor breakdown. Limescale deposits on its elements. Therefore, do not forget to add salt to the tank. What salt for a dishwasher to choose, read the article.
Water drain problems
Has the equipment generated errors E21, E24, i20? There are problems with the drain. The machine can stop in the middle of a cycle with water in the hopper. What to do:
- Check the drain filter. Rinse it under the tap, do not clean with a stiff brush. How to replace the filter, read here.
- Clean the impeller of the pump. Remove the flapper and check for thread, hair, and other debris on the impeller.
- Inspect the drain pump, hose pipe.
- In extreme cases, a blockage could occur in the sewer (with a direct connection). Then the drain hose is removed, and the sewage system is cleaned with special equipment.
By cleaning the filter after each wash cycle, clogging problems can be avoided.
No gulf of water
Codes E15, E20 indicate similar problems. This is the activation of Aquastop and the blockage in the flood system. And in fact, and in another case, water does not enter the chamber.
Check the Aquastop hose immediately. Unscrew it from the housing and look into the hole. If the valve is firmly pressed against the walls, then a leak has occurred and the protection has tripped.
If you had mechanical protection, the Aquastop hose needs to be completely replaced.
If the protection did not work, then:
- Turn the shut-off valve.
- Check for water in the system.
- Inspect the intake hose for obstruction. Rinse under the tap.
- Clean the filter screen at the inlet to the valve.
- It is clogged with scale, rust, and small debris. Put it in a container of water and citric acid for a while.
- Diagnose the intake valve with a multimeter. To find out if the diaphragm is triggering, an operating voltage is applied to the valve.
- The part changes simply: unscrew the screw and disconnect the wiring.
Electronics Issues
Absolutely all error codes can indicate a malfunction of the electronic module. This is because the board controls the nodes in the system. For this, triacs are located on it, each of them is responsible for the operation of the pump, heater, and so on.
Why does the module fail? As a result of a short circuit, the capacitor burns out, and the wiring, the board itself or its individual parts "flies". Moisture can also cause damage.
Only a specialist can repair the board. But you can examine it yourself:
- Disconnect the equipment from the network.
- Open the camera door.
- Remove the screws around the inside of the door.
- Close the door and remove the external panel.
- Disconnect the black wire.
- Remove the module and unfasten the wiring chips.
If burnt areas are visible on the surface, then contact the service center or call the wizard.
The control board is an expensive part. If your dishwasher has served for many years, then it is more profitable to purchase new equipment.
So with your own hands you can check the performance of the dishwasher, detect and fix the problem. A video on the topic will help you:
